Instruction

Private lessons are available during the week, on a limited basis. The cost is $40/hr at your home, or $35/hr at the Brevard Chess Center. Most lessons are in the evening, or during the day in summer. All ages and levels of play (including absolute beginners).
Group lessons are taught every Saturday (except holidays and major tournament weekends) at the Chess Center. We call these Chess Workshops, and there is usually a morning (9:00) and an afternoon (1:00) class. These are hands on lessons, with an emphasis on tournament play. Class size is limited and registration is required. The cost is $20 for the two hour class and all materials are provided.
School programs are taught on a weekly basis during the school year. Every student has a chess set to work with during the lesson, and then additional play is encouraged. Classes  usually last about 75 minutes. Cost is determined by class size. Additional adult supervision is requested for very young children or groups over 20 students. Tournament participation is encouraged.
